The Athame's Edge Learning Coven
The Athame's Edge is a Progressive Wiccan online coven whose mission is to provide a loving community dedicated to life-long learning and spiritual growth. While we are primarily an online coven, our students and members are encouraged to meet, study, and do ritual together in person as often as possible.
Outer Spiral Classes
The Outer Spiral is our coven's pre-initiatory group, and is devoted to teaching enough Wiccan history, theology, philosophy and practical skills to help the seeker make an informed decision about more active practice of Wicca, and possible initiation into our tradition. In order to serve the Wiccan and pagan community, we offer online Outer Spiral instructional classes free of charge to qualified adult students at every experience level.
This is a learning-focused coven, and our students are expected to think a lot, write a lot, and devote a good amount of time to their spiritual growth.
What Does "Progressive Wicca" Mean?
Progressivism describes our tradition's focus on the evolution of modern Wicca, it's dynamic, non-dogmatic core. We encourage eclecticism, experimentation with and exploration of what helps strengthen your connection with divinity, along with letting go of what doesn't. We are open to widely varied beliefs and practices, and place great emphasis on life-long personal evolution.
At the same time, we rely on critical judgement faculties and good old-fashioned common sense to determine the accuracy and validity of our ideas. We think for ourselves, and never blindly follow a path or belief.
Wicca is not about casting spells and having the universe bend to your will. Wicca is a way of life. It is about strengthening your connection with the Divine, however you define it. A Wiccan's journey to enlightenment is never complete.

Why "Athame's Edge?"
An athame (A thuh may) is a traditional Wiccan ritual tool, a dual-sided knife whose edges are dulled. The two edges remind us that there is more than one way to travel the Wiccan path, and that we must guard against rigid dogma and spiritual stagnation.
The athame is never used to cut or slice. We, too, try never to use our knowledge and skills to harm others or ourselves. This can also remind us that there is no easy way to slice through our outer selves and reveal the spiritual being within -- it requires patience and hard work.
